Homemade 1500W dummyload
My old dummy load from MFJ has been outside for 15 years now and when I checked it I saw that it was seriously rusted on the outside.

As you can see here it is coming to the end of his life.
So I went looking for empty paint pots so I could restore this one.

The ones I bought are a little longer than the original ones from MFJ but that's not so bad

After I opened the old MFJ I have to say it actually didn't look that bad on the inside

The oil looks like new, the inside is sparkling, no water inside and that for something that's been outside for 15 years.
Only the outside is rusty... so I thought it could go back outside for a few more years.
To protect it a bit, we sprayed it with a coat of paint.
So there I was with my new paint pots... luckily, over the past 30 years, I've accumulated a lot of items in my junk box.

I still had 4x 50 Ohm resistors lying around, the only difference is that the MFJ ones are 90 watts and mine are 60 watts.
Apparently, I also had one lying around that MFJ is using. (MFJ 115 1500 resistor.)
We had bought the paint pots now so they could finally prove their usefulness and we started building again

It didn't take that much time to make this.
The SWR looks okay.
I've already made a second one, and since I have four resistors lying around, I made two more.
The cost without oil was €15 per dummy load!
