Chokes

Chokes is a rare subject, we all know what they are but not many operators are measuring them.

Long time ago I learned some more on this subject.

I don’t say that I don’t believe the YCCC manual on their chokes but when I received my ferrite I will measuring them to have some indication.

First of all you need at least a 2 port analyzer I am using the minivna.

I am no expert at this subject not even close to be one just enough knowledge to measure them to have some indication.

My analyzer is not the perfect tool there are others an much better system to use for measuring chokes.

In the YCCC manual they are saying how to make them.

Each choke consists of 7-1/2 turns of RG-179 miniature 75Ω coaxial line wound through two cylindrical 31 material ferrite cores (Fair-Rite part no 2631102002)

As you can see between 2Mhz and 11Mhz the chokes have the most common-mode suppression.

I know that there are better ways and more accurate ways to measure them.

My objective was only to have an indication.
