20m 4square

After the 40m 4sq project and after a presentations of the project at my local ham radio club I started building a 20m version.

The reason was that I could use it on the fieldday.

So again all has to be as cheap as possible.

For more information on 4sq you can look at the discription of the 40m version.

The system has to be very easy to set it up and to dismantled in a short period of time.

So I use some waste wood to make the portable stands for the antennas

All have color tape for identification

Simple aluminium tubes are used and as light a possible.

 It’s a fieldday setup.

Finishing of the coupler, for this version I was not using a measuring system for the dumped power.

The control system

Testing the system in my backyard

Why a portable version?

Well our radio club is a little club with not a big fund.

No mobile towers, large system or Yagi’s that we can use.

The 20m version has to be very easy so everybody in the club can use them.

Not all club members are using at home a directional system.

After my presentation of the 40m version at the radio club I gave them the possibility to use a 4sq in real life and not only on paper.

Conclusion

Yes its worked like it should, be are there better systems? Yes there are.

We made more contacts than we ever did before on a fieldday.

After the fieldday I made it a permanent installation at my house .

It's been deleted for the moment because of interactions between the antennas.
