There are 2 pcb with a difference of color (version VE6WZ)... the green one is made by F8FKI the other one by me.
The only reason is that sometimes the photo of F8FKI is used, because we send photos online on WhatsApp and sometimes the quality of the photos from F8FKI are better to post them on this site.

Almost finished

In the meantime everything has been measured as VE6WZ does and everything seems to be correct.

Because I will now combine 2x RX9, I can't use it for the time being because I want to make everything as equal as possible, I chose the regular version of the RX9 like my first version.

Below is a picture of the preamps made by F8FKI.
As you can see professionally made.
Maybe he can start a business....

Everything ready, made an extra one but the old version of PI4CC.
Of course I made a mistake on the transformer T3, I don't work with colors for the windings and had soldered them wrong.
Was quickly found that error and the combiner works as it should.
At the moment I haven't tested the preamp yet, this should be done in the course of this week same for the S21 test.

I don't use the transformer T2 on the preamp because I don't go back to the 75 ohm but I stay on the 50 ohm output.

The results of the impedance test on the RX port of the combiner.
As you can see I'm around 50 ohms .
There is a small deviation but this is because I am working with the wrong resistors (wire resistors).

They are the values in red on 1.8Mhz I have 48.51 ohm on 3.6 I have 49.83 ohm and on 7.1 around 53.7 ohms.

Be careful when you do that measurement, don't forget that there is a preamp present.
To do this measurement, do not solder the coupling capacitor to the preamp.

So the next test will be the S21 first because I don't want to solder the coupling capacitor yet before I'm sure the combiner works.
If this is OK, I'll move on to testing the preamp.

Received almost all parts.

We can start soldering, actually already done with that.
just  still need to make the core for the preamp and wait for the relay and the 2n5109 also for the preamp.
Then we can start with the first tests and the first measurements.
If everything is ready, there will be an update again.

We have started making the new version that of VE6WZ.
There is not much work anymore, the transformers are made and the rest is just soldering the components on it.
The disadvantage is of course that some parts are not always readily available, especially those of the preamp, the 2N5109 transistor, which I had to order in Poland. I should receive it sometime at the end of this month according to the tracking code.

I won't make it as detailed as the other version on this site because on You Tube there is more than enough explanation on the VE6WZ channel and better than I could ever make.

But here are some tips.
Depending on the version, there is a printing error on the pcb board of Steve.

it's not 5 turns but 6 turns on the T4 transformer

The onboard preamp

If you were to use the preamp you should have 8 windings  tapped on 5.
This is because the preamp has to see 50 Ohms and if you follow the manual from YCCC they come up with 75 Ohms.

If you do the tests on the transformer as in section 9.4 of the YCCC manual remember the T1 test will not be correct if you take the other windings.

On T1 use a 50 ohm resistor and you should measure around 18.75 ohm.

Transformer 2 on the preamp

I will not use this one.
Because I work with 50 ohms coax to the shack.
If you use 75 Ohm coax to the shack, you should definitely make this one and in the shack then convert impedance back from 75 Ohm to 50 Ohm
