The so called dumping power.

If you make your own coupler a measuring system in the shack to monitor the dumping power is really recommended.

The reason is that the quality of the system is not the SWR but the amount of power that is lost in to the dummy load. If you built a good coupler you will see almost a flat SWR with only the dummy load connected to the coupler.

So again a measuring system in the shack to monitor the dumping power is really recommended.

A good tuned system can have for 1Kw input around 1watt of dumping power.

Is my system that good? No its not I have between 2 to 15watts of lost power in the dummy load with 600watt of input.

If something goes wrong with the 4sq outside you can see in the shack that the dumping power will raise up.

Testing the system and mesuring in the field

Like you can see I am getting bald

The entire project from the first search on my good friend Mr google to the finishing and having a working system was almost 6 month. The spare time I have has to be divided by the system and my family so yes you can build this in a shorter period of time.

The dummy load does not has to be like mine some smaller one will just work as good, I use that one because I had it already for a long period.

The biggest coax I use that u see in the picture is RG218.

Well there is a simple reason, At some point a good friend has access to a spool of 200m of this coax and asked me if I would like to have it for free so …………….

The use of this coax is also because (it was free) the 4sq is around 85m away of my shack.
