7 Element OWA yagi for 6m

11/09/2025

Now that I'm going to install a 5-el on a 20-m boom, why not add a band to the same boom?
I chose the 7-el because I wanted to maintain some distance with the 20-m yagi and have more freedom of placement on the 9.3-m boom.

For this yagi I chose the design of G0KSC

7el 50MHz Yagi Antenna with a 7.1 meter boom length

I also made these elements largely from the old KT34 yagi...

Making the reflector and directors is simple. Take the center tube and grind in both ends of the center tube so you can slide the outer piece in and secure it with tube clamps.

The dipole is about the same, but if you make one, you have to cut it in half afterwards. You can also insert teflon for better strength, but I didn't have the right size to do this... I did do that with the 15m yagi I'm building.

Of course, measure everything correctly so that when it comes into the tower you don't have to trim much.

In the meantime, everything has been mounted on the boom, and I'm now waiting for better weather to continue building...
I hope to be able to put it up in the tower by the end of September.

Here I am still doing some tests, you can clearly see the dipole for the 6m yagi in the middle of the photo

The other elements are not yet on here, but everything is ready to be mounted as you can see in the photo above.
