Yagi KLM KT34a

After many years of using a hexbeam (17 years)  it’s time to move on.

Searching online for some schematic of a mono bander Yagi for the 20m band.

My plan was to make a 5 el Yagi.

At some point in my search someone told me there is a KLM KT34a for sale secondhand. So again looking online at some reviews and some tips from my friend ON4PO I have  decided to buy the Yagi instead of making myself a mono bander Yagi.

I know the mono bander would be better but is was so cheap that I picked it up the same day.

When I came home I started to assembled the almost finishing Yagi.

The day after it was already in my little tower.

You should think it will be plug and play because it came almost completely assembled wel…………….

If the beam ever worked by the old owner i have no idea but after downloading the manual I noticed some parts where not on the right place.

So again the Yagi down again and checked all the elements, after that most of the  problems where gone.

At the moment it was a windy day and with the analyzer the SWR was swinging in the wind.

After 2 days of searching I found the problem.

In one of the elements there was a tiny bad electrical contact.

At the end the fix was easy and its again in use hopefully for a long time.

If I ever replace this Yagi for again a bigger one, the first thing will be a better tower that can handle more weight.
